Legal Consultations
We regularly help clients throughout California in a wide range of employment, business and injury claims. Many of our consultations save our clients a lot of time, money, and aggravation on pursuing cases that shouldn't be pursued for various legal and practical reasons, defending cases the wrong way, or sabotaging good cases by not handling them correctly.
It is much easier, cheaper and less stressful to consult with an experienced attorney about your issue before and not after you make a certain decision that affects your legal rights. To make the most out of any legal consultation, keep in mind the following two tips:
1. Ask not only what to do but also why. Don't be shy during the consult and ask the lawyer to explain to you not only what they believe you should be doing in your situation, but also why. Understanding the reasons why you choose a certain way of handling your issue is going to help you be more confident in that choice, knowing that you may not have found a perfect solution to your problem, but it is likely the best solution out of all other available options.
2. Be open and honest with the the lawyer you are consulting. During your consultation, share with the lawyer not only the facts favorable to you but also the facts that concern you and are likely to be a challenge in your situiation. Your lawyer only knows about your situation what you share with them. A consultation is not your time to advocate for yourself and prove that you are right, but it's your opportunity to give the lawyer you are speaking as much information as possible to help them give you the best advice. This includes both favorable and unfavorable facts. A lawyer who only knows half the story will only be able to give you half as good of an advice, which often can be a bad advice altogether.
